Would you apply that to someone who applied to manage listening regarding
racism?
Should teachers not be allowed to teach subjects about which they have
strong positions with which others disagree?

One of my great pleasures as a professor was to be able to give an "A" when
it was earned by someone writing a cleaer and well argued attack on lbgt
rights, or any other position about which I have strong opinions. I
ususally added, "Congratulations from your very own real live fairy.
Welcome to the University."
I think you set a very low standard of professionalism that promotes
blandness and buraucracy.
Thanks for asking.

Dear Brother/Sister Louie,
Please forgive the simplistic nature of this question.
If a person has already determined a firm opinion on the subject, would not
that opinion unfairly colour the reporting that is asked. I affirm that
everyone comes to the table with a worldview but that not withstanding,
isn't it appropriate to try and level the playing field by asking that
persons with strongly help opinions not apply.

Business as usual in the Anglican Communion, of course. No woman is
qualified to facilitate listening regarding gender issues if she has
publicly stood for gender justice. No person of color is qualified to
facilitate listening regarding issues of race if that person has publicly
stood up against racism......
