I spent most of my time with your: Directory of the Anglican Communion

The Li Tim Oi Foundation has helped 113 women in 60 dioceses of the Anglican
Communion to train for Christian word in the two-thirds world.

It was useful to collect e-mail addresses fpor some the diocese in East
Africa from your site.

It would be helpful if you stated when each province list was last updated.
Another site was nearly 4 years old.

e.g There is a new archbishop of Kenya

The Li Tim-Oi Foundation exists to carry on the ministry of the first
Anglican Woman Priest by enabling women in the Two Thirds World to train for
Christian work in their own countries - UK Registered Charity no:1027837

Louie Crew responds:

Many thanks! I rejoice in your important ministry. Many of us hope
to add Li Tim-Oi to ECUSA's Calendar of Saints, but are under the
contraints that except for martyrs one must have been dead for 50
years to be considered. See "Guidelines and Procedures for Continuing
Alteration of the Calendar in the the Episcopal Church" at
http://www.andromeda.rutgers.edu/~lcrew/ecusacalendarchange.html

I have Li Tim-Oi's picture in my poster of "Famous Female Episcopaliains" at
http://www.andromeda.rutgers.edu/~lcrew/poster.html

Sorry about the errors in my directory of the Anglican Communion at
http://pegasus.rutgers.edu/~lcrew/anglicancommunion My source is
indirectly through the Anglican Consultative Council, but my friend
gets an update only once a year, usually in March. I hope we can
persuade the ACC to publish it on the web and update it regularly.

Joy!

Dear Louie,
It's been almost four years since I unsubscribed to your news list in
order to head for seminary.  As usually happens, I've survived the three
years and am now a priest.  Are you still operating an email list and can
I subscribe again?  I am most interested in what's going on/not going on
in the General Convention preparation and you are by far the best source
of all information.
I trust you are well.  Terry Pannell told me of your impending visit
to Sewanee about which I am delighted.  It is too far to come down for a
day, though, so I will rely on Terry to tell me all about it.  God
willing, you can open some eyes and hearts there.

I'm quoting from your web-site: "Humanity is a component of the
Creator^Òs design for the natural evolution of the whole of creation unto
glory.  (Are you with me?)"

I am with you and think you should take a look at this. It is a bit far
out but it certainly does shed light on a lot of the mysteries and myths
that have existed in our ancient past. It also sheds light on the fall of
the earth and on what is going on in these days and times.

Please comment:  When I came to your website, I was looking for ideas for
our church website that I am designing.  Then I got caught up in your
statement that God loves absolutely everybody. I spent a lot of time
thinking about "Have the courage to be joyous."  I'd like to.

And I enjoyed the 365 reasons to be an Episcopalian.  But I will come
back soon and look at computers and writing pages because I write fiction
and am a computer specialist.

If you go to my website, look for the hidden links on the meditation
page.

What an impressive list you have compiled. I am a published poet looking to
expand my scope of publications and/or personal achievements. I was looking
for sites that accepted poetry as well as sites that could assist me in
expanding the realm of my notebooks to the next frontier- I was so taken
back by your research I wanted to personally thank you for compiling this
list.
I have yet to read these sites-I just read your input and comments. I know
I'll be sure to thank you again for making a fantastic list. If you are a
poet you probably feel the same way-- I feel that Poetry is my heart. My one
great escape. The one thing I do and feel wonderful about. To share it- is
the reward ...and I am looking forward to seeing what your list offers.

Hawaii to the Diocese of Missouri. A couple of years ago I finished my
DMin in Congregational Studies at SWTS (I can't say enough good things
about that program) and came here to apply what was learned.

I read the other day that you would be a candidate for President of the
House of Deputies. I just wanted you to know that if I were a Deputy to
General Convention, you would have my vote and support!! I hope it goes
well!!

Best wishes!!

[re: http://newark.rutgers.edu/~lcrew/pbonline.html]

I have recently discovered your website on the Net. I would like to thank
you for having taken the effort to collect all those adresses of
publishers on one page. This will make my life easier when I convince
myself to submit my poetry, which comprises more than 600 "products". As
a Flemish Belgian, writing in the English language, I have always found
it hard to decide how I would go about trying to publish my work, without
having to translate it in Dutch. Your list of publishers who
accept poetry via e-mail is a godsent for people who live in small
countries, like myself. You have made my world a lot bigger...

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

Please allow me to share the Good News of Christ with you.
The simplicity that is in Christ is GOOD NEWS! There is no condemnation
for those that trust in Jesus.  Turn away from sin and unfaithfulness and
put your trust in Jesus Christ. When He died on the cross, He took the
punishment for all our sins so that we would be saved from God's wrath.
It is not God's will that we go to Hell. When Jesus rose from the dead,
He defeated death. Confess your sins to God, put your faith in the
Savior, and you will pass from death into eternal life.

God bless,

Don

Unfortunately for you, Jesus will condem you to an eternity seperated
from God for acting on you immoral impulses.  You will be thrown into the
lake of fire.  You need to repent of your sinful ways and  cease your
immoral activities.   I doubt you will do that but think about it.
Perhaps you can have the gift of erernal life through Jesus Christ, the
forgiveness of sins.  You do not have that gift now, no matter how much
your immoral church and your husband think you have it.

Rutgers is an immoral institution for sponsoring you, your activities and
your lifestyle.  It is all a work of the devil.

I have been so disheartened in recent history as a serious Episcopalian
employed by a Southern Baptist College and surrounded by
fundamentalists.  Further, my bright and beautiful daughter at 31 years
became enamored with and married a fundamentalist Baptist and has become
immersed in what I consider an inhospitable and uncharitable culture.
Needless to say, Ordination of Women and homosexuality are topics I do
not discuss with my son-in-law.  Thank you for your thoughtful
scholarship on the issue of homosexuality in particular, and
fundamentalism, in general.

I readily admit to being a heterosexual homophobic but I do not wish to
be an ignorant product of culture.  I have always felt that rejection of
homosexuals is wrong, insensitive and contrary to all the tenets of the
'so-called" Christian faith.  I have struggled most of my life with the
issues of resurrection, original sin, ad infinitum, and I am grateful to
have been born into a tradition in the Episcopal Church that has allowed
me latitude to learn and grow without fear of reprisal.  Were it not for
the thoughtful scholarship and deep commitment to God of many
predecessors I would have despaired long ago of this whole business of
"Christianity".  Thank you for your commitment to the "right way".  I
discovered Tillich many years ago and his scholarship has been a light in
the dark.  I truly will treasure the articles "Battling For the Heart of
Christianity" and "The Religious Write".  I look forward to sharing with
my beautiful daughter since she has not been able to sustain her faith
within her husband's "fundy" culture and her questions are driving her
now to seek higher truth.  As the Episcopal Church enters another chapter
in church history, I feel better equipped to understand and support the
ratification of Bishop Robinson's election as the right way.

Please comment:
As I read the Australian "igornunt" comment, I thought of the Scots bishop's
gay pride celebration talk which wished for another Cornelius-moment in the
church: Peter having to give up his ideas on clean/unclean.

If the 1998 Lambeth moment occurred, dealing with Polygamy in Africa,
without threats of schism, then how can some of those same folks make
such threats or take such actions now?

"Igornunt" ignorant through prideful obstinance.

Please comment: Hopefully your list will help; I'm trying to help an Old Guy get his Poetry and short stories published. He has had some of them published in newspapers in Melbourne, over the years, and has also read many of them on air, with a great response from readers and listeners (I have read many requests sent in by them wanting to buy his book or requesting he send them copies).

I have built him a Web site to help promote his poetry etc. to publishers he contacts at :- http://home.kooee.com.au/alno
but he being a typical impoverished poet and I not having time or money in great abundance can't help much more....His work has great merit...as was apparent from the response he got....As I said hopefully this will help.

Regards...Peter G Cullen

Dear Louie,

I am attempting to understand the position of the church and homosexuals.

Where does it say in the Bible that man can be with a man, or woman can
be with a woman.

If the Bible does not declare these things, what does the church use to
be the base for it's position?

Please pray about answering this,

Jesus Loves You!

         --------------------------------------------------

Lutibelle/Louie responds:

Thank you for your passionate concern for my soul. Continue to
keep me in your prayers.

The Bible does not say that I can drink CocaCola either nor
that I can ride in an airplane. The forgotten part of the
first commandment is that we are to love God with our minds,
and the unnoticed part of the second is like unto it, namely,
we should love our lesbian and gay neighbors as we love ourselves.
On these two hang everything else.

> Jesus Loves You!

Indeed, Jesus loves absolutely everybody.
Hallelujah!

Joy to you!

Comments: Thank you for all the wonderful data you are providing for
the Church at GC time. I have created a "Mini-site" about General
Convention on our local parish site noted above, and that is the
official link for GC by the Diocese of Nevada, and several of the
Parishes in Nevada are linking to it as their source of material and
contact with our Deputies. I am keenly interested in sources of
material during Convention. Are you planning anything special for that
time? I am on the HoB/D list and get material form there, ENS,
EpiscopalLife, Official GC site and other news sources, but I do want to
be a comprehensive as I can. I am being very selective, as well, since
the intent to involve and teach the person in the pew about the bredth
and depth of their Church; I can't inundate them with material. This
is an experiment this time, since I can't go to Convention to
participate in the News Operation. Thought I would try to do it from
home! - Jon Davidson

  ---------------------

I will not be online during GC, because of its heavy demands.
You can check my site

for links to sites that will be giving daily coverage.

Joy to all through your important ministry.

You must be a very hard worker! Thanks for all your labors. My
sister gave me your website when I became concerned yesterday by the NYT
article on the opposition both to the New Hampshire bishop's endorsement
and to the California proposal. I wish you the best, and hope my bishop
(Florida) will see the light.

Also, speaking as another English prof, I must say your social science
skills are very impressive :)

My husband and I have just read Bishop Spong's autobiography,
Here I Stand. We have a number of his other books in our library.
We see parallels between his experiences in serving the church as
a pastor and what we know to be true. My husband is a retired United
Methodist minister, but we no longer attend the UM church. My husband has
retained his membership in the United Methodist conference from which he
retired (to protect his pension) but we both attend the Unitarian
Universalist Fellowship of Hendersonville, NC, where I am a member.
We are the parents of four children, two of whom are gay men. We
are the founders and co-coordinators of PFLAG Flat Rock/Hendersonville.
The extent of the information on your web site is astounding!
We're watching with great interest to see what will happen in
Minneapolis.

It is a very conservative parish and so I appreciate all your info on the Anglican webpage so I can attempt to hold up a balanced look at the General Convention. Miss being in the Dio of Newark after 6 yrs in CT!!! Am delighted to say my son Loren (15 yrs.) is one of the youth delegates at General Convention from CT. I decided not to go this year to volunteer as he was and Mom is persona non gratis in adolescence!

(In reply to a posting today on integrityvalist)
Cynthia ... Yes, I have sent an email to Bp Lee (yesterday, in fact) .
Perhaps I shall post my letter to him along with his reply (should he
answer me, but he is on a vacation for a while; yet, according to his
email automated response, his mail/emails are packaged and sent to him
regularly so he can see them).
Yesterday I read a news report that hate mail, including email,
to bishops and deputies, is being sent to those who voted against Gene
Robinson as well as the wonderful, Christ-blessed majority, who supported
his confirmation.   One bishop, who admitted he had voted against Gene's
confirmation,  was quoted as saying he was stunned by the tone of the
hate mail he had received.  Wake up, guys!  Yes, it seems to me that some
people (even in our wonderful "ECUSA") do not know the difference between
good and evil, regardless of how many crosses they wear; they should read
again (and again, and again until they understand it) what St. Paul wrote
(see 4 Ephesians).
Further, our integrityvalist readers might like to see the column
in today's (Aug. 16) edition of The Washington Post by Colbert I. King.
This is a  fascinating piece about ECUSA (he did fail to mention how
many votes in ECUSA's GC are from citizens of foreign nations like Taiwan
and Columbia, very often people who are antigay), the confirmation of
Gene Robinson as Bishop, the role of Q.E. II as the person who must
approve the selection of the Archbishop of Canterbury, as well as
comments about Prince Charles, and hunger and AIDS in Africa.   If you do
not get the Washington Post, you can read the article by going to the
paper's web site and putting in the name of Gene Robinson in a search box
for this article.    I simply typed in "Gene Robinson."
As Tiny Tim said, "God Bless Us, Every One!"
        ... Tom Rouland, Springfield, VA
PS
I sent an email to Gene Robinson.  He sent me a wonderful reply several
days ago.  He mentioned with favor my suggestion posted last week that we
need a new advocacy group:  QUALM (Queers Against Loser Mentalities) in
ECUSA, and elsewhere.

Other: I logged on to Jesus Seminar

At my United Methodist Church, a book study is planned on Spong's new book,
Christinaity for the New world. I am so pleased that finally the light of
reason is showing up at last. I have been a Methodist all my life but have never
really believed Jesus was the son of God or was born of a virgin or
resurrected. These things don't happen in nature. And finally, someone is speaking
out about the time period between Jesus' death and the writing of the gospels.

I have read Thomas Jefferson's opinion of the Bible as a "dungheap." I
believe Jesus was a good man with insight and showed us a good way to live our
lives, in peace and harmony with other animals and nature.

And who is God? Sittin up there in never never land on her throne. (Why
not?)

I have been ostracized by my church family whom I love, even my husband
thinks I'm off the deep end when I have expressed my views. Now with the book
study, I think people will begin to think more, and it might take a while to bring
most of them around, some of course, will always believe the myths.
Sorry about my rambling, but I am just so glad to see the book become popular.

Dear Dr. Crew,

You provide a valuable resource whether one is seeking recent history,
statistics or good humor. I found that a few hours on your site improved
my knowledge of recent ECUSA events.

What impresses me most is your courteous demeanor when addressing those
who oppose your views and your acceptance that you might be wrong. I have
always considered tolerance a virtue and love a keystone of Christianity.

The folks over at Virtuosity are often rude and almost always
strident. Though they are often confused, they harbor no doubts. How
wonderful it must be to think that one is directly wired to The
Almighty! That doesn't play well with me, and I think of their site
as Sanctimonia. The Christian thing for me to do would be to include them
in my prayers.

You and I are contemporaries. Did you have the pleasure
of hearing Bishop Pike or Bishop Krumm preach? John was the rector at
St. Matthew's, San Mateo where my partner of thirty-nine years was
confirmed. I met John in the mid eighties when he returned to California
after serving as Suffragan in Paris. How we both miss him! You obviously
share his goals and philosophy.

I wish you well in your efforts to make our church more inclusive.

Sincerely,

Hal Aspgren

Please comment: God bless you and Ernie. I do feel like in this Episcopal
Church we are fighting for the Anglican soul. Often I find those who came
into our church from the Baptist and RC backgrounds just don't get
hermeneutics! I am beginning to think that our lectionary lets many of us
think we "read the Bible" yet we hear only particular portions.

One great outcome--at historic Christ Church, Alexandria--we are having some
really intense Biblical reflection and discussion. There are always
blessing when you strive to do God's work in the world.

Dear Louie,
I am not computer literate enough to copy your form, but I'll tell
you that I am John Fonda, e-mail address fonda1law@aol.com, that I do not
have a website, that I am from Winston-Salem, N.C. and that I have spent
most of my time reviewing your religious/gay pages.  I linked to your
site through the ECUSA site.  I have enjoyed reading what you have to say
although we come from different perspectives.  I find that I learn the
most from those of different perspectives.  I came to your site initially
looking for the decision of the ecclesiastical court in Stanton v.
Righter and hope you can provide it as it no longer seems availabe from
the ECUSA site.  You seem well versed and perhaps can provide an
understanding which helps me overcome the obstacle to acceptance of Rev.
Robinson's confirmation and the church's blessing of same sex unions
which I see in Romans1:28-29.  At Bp. Curry's recommendation I have been
reading and enjoying Peter Gomes' "The Good Book"  and have read
summaries and reviews of John Boswell's "Christianity, Social Tolerance
and Homosexuality."  (too much to read, too little time)  I admire
Boswell's goal of exonerating the church for the persecution of
homosexuals, but dont' find his analysis of Romans persuasive.  Dr.
Richard Hays analysis of that passage and his critique of Boswell's
analysis seems better reasoned to me.
If you have the time, I'd appreciate your advice.
    John

Comments:

I am the organist/choirmaster of All Saints Episcopal Church in Mobile AL
and my partner is the organist/choirmaster of St. Paul's Episcopal Church
in Mobile.

It seems that my parish and one other parish in the diocese of the
Central Gulf Coast has accepted the outcome of General Convention.

I am sorry to say that we have a lot of conservative parishes within this
diocese. My partner's church being one of them. We pray that they will
see the light and turn from their homophobic ways.

We are being smothered down here in south. We are planning a trip to New
York City after Christmas to get some real Episcopal Church.

current controversy at Darlington.  I grew up in Rome and Darlington is a
part of my life, even today, in ways that force me to care what happens

Your name sounds very familiar to me, though I can't think how I might

I have just been browsing through the serach pages for the sacrament of
Reconciliation and came across your suggested liturgy for the church's
reconciliation of how it treats gay and lesbain people....I don't know
when you wrote the article, but I whole heartedly agree with your
sentements, I wish more people who call themselves 'Christians' would
think like yourself.

I am privelidged to actually conduct many same sex blessings as a part of
my ministry, the joy that this brings to the couples is beyond words...so
many tears of hurt of rejection of the mainstream churches flow during
the services but end as tears of joy that Jesus has blessed their
relationship.

May God bless you in your pilgrimage,
