Louie, your is a pretty amazing story - 25 years together and 
very public about your gay marriage.  More power to you.  Stay 
away from the new book - SUICIDE: the death of the Anglican 
Church of Canada? - by one of our Anglican evangelists, one whom 
I used to put a great effort into bringing him to my parishes - 
his name is Marney Patterson.  That book of his (SUICIDE: ) is 
one of the most homophobic things I have ever seen. I'm not gay, 
but I'm not homophobic either.

Louie, my previous involvement at the national level as Director 
of the Office Stewardship where I left out of profound 
frustration in 1991 (a whole story in itself, not the least of 
which was the Cookeing of the Books!), leads me to suggest that 
the change (decline) of giving had at least something to do with 
the destruction of the Office of Stewardship Development as it 
was known for nearly ten years and a decline in the priority in 
stewardship that took place at that time nationally. Fortunately 
there has been considerable institutional recovery through the 
work of Terry Parsons nationally in the "renewed" Office of 
Stewardship, planned giving with the Foundation and Fred Osborn, 
and our own local/national/international The Episcopal Network 
for Stewardship (TENS) here in Wichita.  Interesting it is to me 
how the data seems to reflect the up and downs of stewardship 
education in the Episcopal Church.  Thank you for a very helpful 
site in so many ways. As REctor of St. James Church for eight 
years, I see, experience, and we are practicing many of the 
things your conclusions suggest we all ought to do. See one 
major way we are getting at the new forms of congregational 
development at www.stcolumbacenter.org.  We are planning a major 
event probably to be call The Church Outside the God Box in 
September of 2000 at which time we can showcase our ideas on

Tom Gossen at The Episcopal Network for Stewardship, where I am the Administrator, usually forwards to me your e-mail bulletins.  However, I heard about this article by Gray Temple from a friend in Maryland whose parish is presently doing some rather painful dialogue about homosexual issues.  Chief (Kirk Kubicek) has met me and my partner, and we've been praying for him and sending messages to boost his spirits.  He reports that progress is being made and success will be that they still have a parish left when the dust clears.  Has some real problems with good, god-loving people who just do not get it.  Makes me realize once again how blessed our family is in our home parish, St. James, Wichita, Kansas.  Oz ain't so bad!

   Your website is so important to the Episcopal Church.  I got 
your message about the churches listed by size, etc.  and have 
forwarded it on to several friends.
   #104, St. Paul's Church, New Orleans has no rector listed.  He 
has come in the last nine months so he probably wasn't listed in

      I have joined with you in discussions on Anglican list on 
several occasions while I was in Alabama and enjoyed a REAL 
education.  Since I returned to St. Christopher's in Wichita, my 
ministry has been with all sorts of "discarded" folks, including 
homosexuals.
      My position is alligned with the Summary of the Law and, 
at the same time, I believe that there are risks in puting folks 
of "alternate life-style" persuasion in Christian leadership 
positions.  A thief would not be invited to be in charge of the 
church finances.  
      I,especially, want to thank you for including the BCP 
available for down-load in your site.  I have downloaded the 
Wordperfect version so that I could format a copy and make it 
available for the folks with sight problems.  The Ancient 
Documents are particularly difficult for some to read.
