I am an assistant professor at Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey. My research interests include:

  • Influence of phonetics on phonology
  • Speech-perception and its relation to phonology
  • Intonation
  • Emergent linguistic patterns
  • A corpus/experiment-based approach to Japanese rap rhymes and imperfect puns
  • Experimental approaches to sound symbolism
  • Morphology-phonology interface
  • A bit of semantics

  • The intonation of Japanese nominal parentheticals
  • Duration of geminate stops and fricatives in Arabic, Hindi, Japanese and Norwegian
