William L. Hutcheson Memorial Forest The biotic survey of Hutcheson Memorial Forest is a work in progress. Some groups that have been intensively studied for many years are well known. These include the vascular plants, vertebrates, and some groups of insects. Other groups, including many invertebrates, protists, bacteria, and fungi, are poorly known in many systems and remain the topic of continuing study and discovery at HMF. As we compile lists from the published literature and field notes we will include them here. 2. birds 3. mammals 5. butterflies 6. protists
