Spring 2010 Proposal Writing Workgroup

GradFund, the Resource Center for Graduate Student External Support

Spring 2010 Proposal Writing Workgroup

  • Are you planning to apply for external funding during fall 2010?
  • Are you unsure how to write a funding proposal?

Gradfund’s Proposal Writing Workgroup will help you with the proposal writing process!

General Interest Meeting: Dec. 4, 2009 @ noon, 25 Bishop Place, CAC

What is it?

The Gradfund Proposal Writing Workgroup offers a supportive interdisciplinary environment for doctoral students with a defined dissertation topic to meet periodically to discuss the mechanics of applying for external funding, strategies for putting together a competitive application, and the opportunity to draft proposals and receive peer review in a collegial environment.

What will I get out of it?

The goal of the workgroup is the help graduate students prepare their funding proposals well in advance of the Fall 2010 deadline season. We also seek to create a proposal writing community in which the workgroup participants may continue to engage independently over the summer and into the fall semester.

What’s the time commitment?

Workgroup participants should be prepared to complete preparatory work and to attend the scheduled workgroup meetings. The workgroup will meet twice a month from January to May of 2010. Each group meeting will run approximately 3 hours, and will require approximately 1-2 hours of preparatory work. The meeting schedule will be determined after the initial general interest meeting to be held on Friday, December 4 at 12:00 noon at 25 Bishop Place, CAC

How many students will be in the workgroup?

The workgroup will be limited to 10 students in order to provide each individual with detailed and constructive feedback on proposal drafts in a supportive environment.

How do I sign up?

If you are interested in joining the GradFund Proposal Writing Workgroup, please email Assistant Dean Teresa Delcorso at gradfund at Place “GradFund Proposal Writing Workgroup” in the subject line of your email. Attendance at the December 4 meeting is not required but strongly advised.
