The Tuanan Orangutan Research Project (TORP) was started in 2003 by Dr. Carel van Schaik, Dr. Maria van Noordwijk, The Universitas Nasional Jakarta (UNAS) and The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) to conduct research on wild orangutan biology and ecology as well promote the conservation of this endangered species and its habitats.
