COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course examines the diversity of non-vertebrate animals from evolutionary, ecological, and physiological perspectives.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Express understanding of the fundamental differences among invertebrate taxa.  Gain an appreciation for the diversity of animals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the relationships among taxa.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make careful observations of specimens.
  • Demonstrate skills in identifying invertebrate animals.
  • Gain an appreciation for the diversity of animals.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is the study of inland waters with special concern for the factors that influence the living populations within these waters.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Express understanding of the physical, chemical, and geological factors of inland waters and how these affect the distribution of organisms.

  • Demonstrate adeptness in limnological field techniques.

  • Demonstrate skills in identifying aquatic organisms and demonstrate knowledge of their relationships.
