Jenny Kurtz, M.Ed. Coordinator of LGBTQ Programs Office of Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities jmkurtz@echo.rutgers.edu
Prior to coming to Rutgers, Jenny Kurtz worked for seven years in Student Affairs at Smith College in Massachusetts in the department of Residence Life. At Smith, Jenny also spent two years working as the Advisor to the Resource Center for Sexuality and Gender. Jenny holds a B.A. in Women Studies and Psychology and a M. Ed in Social Justice Education, both from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Through the Social Justice Education program at UMASS, Jenny was introduced to and developed a love for Intergroup Dialogue. Jenny has designed and co-facilitated three intergroup dialogues to date, on topics of Race and Ethnicity (at UMASS and Smith) and Race and Queer Sexuality (at Smith). Jenny also has over ten years of experience in workshop design and facilitation.
While she is passionate about anything that falls under the broad topic of social justice education, Jenny is particularly enthusiastic about the intersections of race, gender, and queer sexualities, queer gender expressions, antiracism, deconstructing representations of queerness in popular culture, and working with college students.
