Biography

Phaedra Daipha is Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Rutgers University. She received her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Chicago. Her research and teaching interests include science and technology studies, cultural sociology, and social theory.

She is currently working on a book manuscript that develops a theory of diagnosis and prognosis under regimes of high complexity. Substantively, this book builds on ethnographic research at a forecasting office of the National Weather Service to examine how weather forecasters, qua public scientists and government workers, go about negotiating the multiple, often competing, logics of knowing and telling the weather.
